Basler offers a large selection of industrial cameras and accessories used for embedded vision applications in factory automation, traffic systems, and retail, as well as medical and life sciences.

Their dart board level camera modules are especially suitable for embedded vision projects. Basler dart camera modules are available with a USB interface, BCON for LVDS, and BCON for MIPI interface. BCON embodies the synergies made possible by combining embedded interface technologies such as LVDS or MIPI CSI-2 with Machine Vision features and technology standards like GenICam.

dart BCON Portfolio from Basler AG

To facilitate camera evaluation for embedded vision projects, Basler offers a plug and play evaluation kit for their dart camera series. The Basler dart USB Evaluation Kit is suitable to get familiar with software connection and camera properties and to evaluate the camera module’s optical performance, which is also useful if you are planning an embedded vision solution with a dart BCON for LVDS camera. The Evaluation Kit includes a dart camera with a USB 3.0 interface, a suitable lens, a USB 3.0 cable, and pylon – Basler's industry-proven camera software suite. pylon offers stable, reliable, and flexible data exchange between Basler cameras and computer systems: for Linux on ARM-based systems, but also on Windows, Linux and OS X– at a very low processor load. When creating user-specific applications, the API for all interfaces and camera modules is identical. This fact makes migrations from one camera model to another much easier.

For easy integration Basler offers the Basler dart BCON for LVDS Development Kit. This development kit simplifies the often-complex and time-intensive task of integrating LVDS-based camera modules into embedded vision applications. It provides you with all components necessary for integrating a Basler dart camera modul with a BCON for LVDS interface and contains reference implementations for both the hardware and software side that can be used as a template for designing a complete embedded vision system.
The dart BCON for LVDS Development Kit is comprised of a Basler dart camera module with the BCON for LVDS interface and 5 megapixel resolution, a lens, a processing board with Xilinx Zynq®-7010 SoC (system-on-chip), cables, and additional accessories. Beyond this, the development kit contains a reference implementation for FPGA-based image grabbing by the Zynq SoC as well as for connecting a Basler dart BCON camera to the Basler pylon Camera Software Suite. Thus, the kit serves as the perfect stepping stone to custom development, illustrating how the camera module can be addressed and configured via the pylon SDK.
