What is ToF camera?
I have heard that the so-called time-of-flight technology is very perspective and even now they are implemented in many devices. Can somebody explain to me please what is the ToF camera and why it is so good?

The basic unit of the ToF (time of flight) camera is the single ToF sensor which can emit light and measure the time that has passed since the start of the light emission... the sensor knows the speed of light and time, so it is able to compute the distance to the object. ToF camera has a lot of the independent ToF sensors. Each of them can measure the distance to some points in front of the camera. Then the camera can combine information from all the independent sensors and create the holistic 3D picture. One of the main advantages of ToF cameras is their operating speed.
A Time-of-Flight sensor is nothing but a sensor that uses Time-of-Flight to measure depth and distance. A camera equipped with a ToF sensor measures distance by actively illuminating an object with a modulated light source (such as a laser or an LED). It uses a sensor that is sensitive to a laser’s wavelength (typically 850nm or 940nm) to capture the reflected light. The sensor measures the time delay ∆T from when the light is emitted and when the reflected light is received by the camera or sensor. This time delay is proportional to twice the distance between the camera and the object.
