Basics of stereo vision
I have read about the concept of stereo vision in several sources, but I would like to read the explanation in more simple language than scientists usually use. So, what is the stereo vision in brief?

Well, a human has 2 eyes, then why not to use 2 cameras in the artificial devices? This phrase can be used to prove the concept of stereo vision because the basics of stereo vision are the usage of 2 cameras to see the world. People have 2 eyes and our brain combines information from both of them to create a realistic reflection of the environment. The same is true for the stereo vision: information from 2 cameras, which are placed in the same horizontal plane, is merged to create a 3D view. Many preprocessing steps should be done to achieve these results, but they are out of the scope of my answer, you can just search for the stereo vision concept and learn it in more details if you have the desire to do this.
Ok, thanks. Just wondering: why when we close one eye we still can see the view which is 3D instead of 2D?
It is because of our wonderful brain capabilities to augment the picture. When you close one eye the brain understands this and try to prepare the 3D picture based only on the information which goes from one eye. By the way, there are several funny tricks which aim is to fool the brain after closing one of the eyes.
